In the city of Newport News, a beach town by the Atlantic Coast on Chesapeake Bay in the Western part of the Virginia Beach Metropolitan Area, strange sightings of unidentified drones, unmanned aircraft being flown by unknown operators, have been reported. Langley Air Force Base made headlines a few days ago, but other parts of the city have been having sightings too including the army site at Fort Eustis and over Newport News Williamsburg International Airport. "I was sitting right here in my plastic lawn chair, just looking at the sky, and I swear to God, I saw one of them come down from out of that cloud over there," said Melvin Whitelow, one resident of Newport News, "I stood up, and without looking at the door, I banged on the door with one hand and grabbed my phone with the other. My wife came through the front door, stepped out here on the front porch. She's yelling asking why I was beating the door and she was in that there robe with a towel wrapped around her hair, wallahi, she looked over at me, silent with my jaw dropped, phone pointed at the sky, not saying a word. She looked up and saw it too." Mr Whitelow shows me his video, which was removed from NextDoor app for "political conspiracy theories." "I'm still angry as hell, mate, the corrupt mods on this app target Ethnic Qarsherskiyan folks because most of us voted Jill Stein and they blame us for Kamala Harris losing. They put that over there," he said while pointing to a drawing of a pig in lingerie and Islamophobic slurs laying in his grass, but without taking his eyes off the sky, "this country is too divided right now. We need to come together and figure out what the hell these drones are." I agreed with Melvin as I left. Time to make my first post on Saidit. I am ready to begin my career of independent journalism in my community, bringing the happenings on this part of the Virginia Peninsula to an online audience. I cover what WAVY News 10 never will.
